From O Hare International Airport

By Taxi:

Three-O-Three Cab, 1-800-CALL303 (a toll-free call) Current rate according to their website is $32 (not including tip) to Evanston

Norshore Cab 1-800-244-9200 (a toll-free call) Current rate according to their website is $31 (not including tip) to Evanston.

Call taxi companies for the most up to date fares

These are recommended because they know the Evanston area.
Chicago cabs at the airport often do not, so we advise you not use them.

Driving time between Evanston and O'Hare: 40 minutes (non-rush hour), up to 60 minutes (rush hour traffic);

Cab companies ask that you call them after you get your baggage, etc. (If you do
not have checked baggage, call them from the gate and tell them you're
already at baggage claim, which saves 5-10 minutes.)

They will arrange to pick you up by baggage claim, just outside the
building. "Prearranged rides" drive by on the 2nd
drive parallel to the building. You exit the building by the baggage
claim, cross the first drive, and wait on the island before the 2nd
drive for the cab.) The cab company will want to know what airline you are
flying, where you are going (hotel in Evanston or NU campus, for example)
and your name. They will tell you the cab number, when it will arrive
(usually about 5-10 minutes), and which baggage-claim exit-door number
at which it will arrive.

By Car:

Take the main exit road from the airport, which turns into I-190, east for about a half-mile.
Exit right and go north on I-294, the Tri-State Tollway. You will be headed north toward Wisconsin and shortly after entering, you will need to pay a 50-cent toll.
Go north about three miles to the Dempster Street eastbound exit.
Take Dempster Street east approximately 10 miles through Park Ridge, Niles, Morton Grove and Skokie into Evanston.
At Chicago Avenue in Evanston, turn left and go north.
Main campus is approximately three-fourths of a mile north at Chicago Avenue and Sheridan Road.

By Bus:

PACE operates bus route 250 from O'Hare to the Davis Street CTA station in downtown Evanston (about 0.5 miles from campus). The PACE website has more information on the PACE 250 route.

By Subway (the "L"):

Take the CTA Blue Line train from the OíHare station to Washington Street in Chicago's Loop.
Get off at Washington Street and walk through the pedestrian tunnel to the Washington Street stop on the Red Line. Take the Red Line north to Howard Street.
Howard Street is as far as the Red Line goes in the direction of Evanston, so you will need to get off the Red Line train and transfer to a Purple Line train. Take the Purple Line north to the Foster Street stop in Evanston.
Walk east, passing Sherman Avenue and Orrington Avenue (about two and a half blocks), until you arrive at Sheridan Road.

From Midway International Airport

By Taxi:

By Car:

Take Cicero Avenue north to I-55 (the Stevenson Expressway).
Turn right (northeast) on I-55 toward downtown Chicago.
Follow I-55 to Lake Shore Drive northbound.
Take Lake Shore Drive north through downtown Chicago and continue until Lake Shore Drive ends. Lake Shore Drive splits; you will need to be in the right two lanes to turn north on Sheridan Road.
Turn right and continue north on Sheridan Road through Chicago into Evanston.
Follow Sheridan Road north, which makes several right-hand turns to keep going north, until you reach the Northwestern campus. Refer to the campus maps to find specific locations.

By Subway (the "L"):

There is an "L" stop at the airport.
Take the CTA Orange Line from Midway to the State/Lake stop.
Walk down the stairs to transfer to the Red Line.
Take the Red Line north to Howard Street.
